Hello all I was reading an article on www.Cnn.com about Baby Einsteins slowing down the development of a kids talking. I would have to disagree. I think it is really up to the baby when they feel they are going to talk if they don't want to say anything they won't. I found Baby Einsteins as a way to relax and calm the kid down when they were crying. I have also found that kids really to repeat some of the actions on the movies. I think the shows help the kids with colors and shapes. I would much rather have my kids watching the educational shows instead of some of the cartoons that are on promoting Violence. I really do think Baby Einstein helps the kids with understanding thing. Plus they get a chance to be introduced to music that they may never have gotten introduced to in there life time.
Well, maybe it would slow down the development of speech for some children, when some parents chose to sit their children in front of the TV for hours a day, vs maybe a half hour a day. I read that the classical music makes the kids smarter in math and such down the line. I thought that was a proven fact? I could be wrong. Baby Einsteins may seem pointless to adults, (they do to me) but I know my kids sure enjoy them. My 4 and 3 year old still love them and choose to watch them over any other DVD, and they also feel the need that their lil 6 month sister needs to watch them too so she can be smart. LOL
My older child developed language early and watched those quite often. My 2nd child is very slow in developing his language and has not watched those as much but his receptive language is right on track. I think Baby Einsteins have helped or at least not hindered the actual verbal language growth in both. And definitely helped both with recognition of shapes, colors, objects etc.
